Our annual benefit was a huge success this year - we raised over $30,000 to support Harbour programs!
On May 7, 2011, friends of The Harbour helped us celebrate our 40th anniversary and honor the achievements of our youth with an evening of casino entertainment at the Renaissance Hotel in Northbrook. We provided a delicious menu and fun entertainment for our patrons, and businesses throughout Chicagoland donated items for our silent auction, live auction, and raffle.
BOBBY MAYER COMMITMENT TO YOUTH AWARD
Kiwanis Club of Park Ridge - Morning
Each year we honor a member of our community who embodies the values of service to youth and commitment to serving others. This year the Bobby Mayer Award was presented to not just one person, but the 36 dedicated individuals who make up the Kiwanis Club of Park Ridge - Morning. This organization has had a special relationship with The Harbour since 1982. Their contributions have been instrumental in helping us serve thousands of runaway, abused, and neglected youth. They not only help with projects and maintenance to the Safe Harbour Emergency Shelter, but also raise and donate thousands of dollars every year. The Harbour thanks the Kiwanis Club of Park Ridge - Morning for their dedication to community youth!

BEACON OF SUCCESS AWARD
Tiffannie Maeda
We also honored one of our past clients who models the values and skills The Harbour works to instill. This year we honored Tiffannie Maeda, who came to the Safe Harbour Emergency Shelter when she was 16. After six months of living at the Shelter, Tiffanie entered the Transitional Living Program, where she finished high school, worked part-time, and learned the skills to become an independant woman. She soon moved into The Harbour's Independent Living Program and began working at a law firm. Through hard work and perseverance, she secured a position as a Senior Paralegal and Office Manager. She recently bought a home for herself and her daughter, and considers herself a role model for others. Tiffannie is a reminder to us all that by offering our youth a chance, they can grow into successful adults.

We want to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time helping us make our 2011 Bet on The Harbour a great success. Thank you for your time and dedication to our mission.
