Safe Harbour Emergency Shelter

The Emergency Shelter program began in 1975 as the very first service offered by The Harbour. Nearly 40 years later, the shelter has undergone several changes to better meet the needs of youth in the community.
Now open to girls from ages 12-21, the Shelter program works with girls and their families to stabilize their situations and ensure that they receive necessary services. The Shelter program prevents family violence and child abuse by providing crisis intervention and conflict resolution designed to strengthen the ability of youth and families to engage, feel supported, see progress and come to a resolution.
Services provided include:
- Emergency shelter
- Counseling, crisis intervention & conflict resolution
- Educational support
- Safe placement
An alternative stable placement is located for youth unable to return home. Girls unable to return home are often great candidates for our Transitional Living Program.
