Camelot Education - 2015 Thanksgiving Sponsor
Thank you, Theresa and Camelot Education, for your dedication to our mission!
December's Helping Hands Club inductee is Camelot Education, our 2015 Thanksgiving dinner sponsor.
There was a lot to be thankful for at The Harbour this year. One generous school system, chose to sponsor The Harbour this year for Thanksgiving.
The Camelot Education Therapeutic Day Schools gathered almost 1,000 students and staff to help make and deliver Thanksgiving dinner to our youth and staff this Thanksgiving. Spread out all over the state, each of Camelot's eight schools got a chance to participate in the Thanksgiving project in some way. Groups came up with the menu, fun activities for youth to do and made goodie bags for everyone.
"This has allowed our student to have a direct impact in helping other youth in need. It was a wonderful way to demonstrate how powerful kindness can be," said Theresa Smith, Camelot Education Region V Vice President.
Camelot chose The Harbour as their community service project for the 2015-2016 school year. The students were in charge of all food-related things including: menu planning, grocery shopping, prepping and preparing food. The ABA department created Thanksgiving activities for youth to enjoy before or after dinner. Camelot’s school in the Quad Cities (Moline, IL) created the gift bags. And the central office staff assisted in the packaging and preparation.
"We believe in supporting youth in need...and are honored to be able to help and support the youth at The Harbour." - Theresa Smith
Together this group supplied dinner and activities for 50 youth and a dozen staff. It was definitely a Thanksgiving to be thankful for!
Thank you to all the wonderful Camelot students, staff and faculty for making this a special holiday for our youth!
