Helping hands club
Volunteer Spotlight, March 2016
Tom Heffernan - Harbour Office Volunteer
Thank you, tom, for your dedication to our mission!
March's Helping Hands Club inductee is Tom Heffernan, Harbour administrative volunteer.
Once a week Tom comes in with a grin on his face, greeting Harbour staff as he makes his way to the Development Coordinator's office.
"No matter what Tom is working on that day, he always come in with a big smile, ready to roll up his sleeves and have a good day." -Rosie Paparella, Harbour Development Coordinator
What started as a one-time volunteer opportunity has transformed into a year-long commitment. As an active Park Ridge community member, Tom is always willing to lend a hand in any way he can. Almost every week for the past year, Tom comes in to the main office to help staff out. Though it is not always the most glamorous of activities, Tom takes pride in his volunteer duties.
Tuesday afternoons are always a little brighter when Tom comes in to help with shredding and clerical work. Never one to turn down someone asking for help, Tom has helped multiple staff members throughout his first year of volunteering. Tom rolls with the punches every week as his desk location moves, tasks for the day change and normal chaos in the office ensues.
"He's like the office Grandpa, so warm and welcoming. We enjoy him coming to the office and all he helps with." -Jessica Zimmer, Harbour Therapeutic Case Manager.
Thank you Tom for your dedication and support!
