Volunteer Spotlight, May 2016
Kitty Collins - Administrative Volunteer
Thank you, Kitty, for your dedication to our mission!
May's Helping Hands Club inductee is Kitty Collins, administrative office volunteer.
Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of skill levels. Few volunteers have specialized non-profit skills like this month's Volunteer Spotlight.
As an active retiree, world traveler and native to the non-profit world, Kitty came to The Harbour seeking a way to stay involved in the non-profit community. Passionate about helping women and youth, The Harbour was a natural fit for Kitty's volunteer needs.
Kitty spent several of her working years in the non-profit world doing everything from event planning and conference coordination to running organizations. Being attuned to the non-profit world brings a multitude of skills perfect for volunteering.
As an adventurer, Kitty has seen the wonders of the world and traveled to dozens of destinations. Kitty brings her worldly expertise to The Harbour in multiple ways. As versatile as her travel experiences, Kitty helps with a whole assortment of tasks at the administrative office. From event preparations to shredding documents and everything in between, Kitty has helped with anything and everything staff ask her to help with.
"I like the variety of activities and the office environment. I also very much appreciate the flexibility that is given me to work within my schedule." - Kitty
The Harbour is flexible with Kitty's volunteer schedule and Kitty is flexible with tasks. Though some tasks are more tedious than others, Kitty always comes in with a smile and happily helps with whatever is needed that day.
Daily tasks aren't the only thing Kitty is flexible with. Having helped the Development team, Office Manager and Events staff, rounds out her experience working with the entire Harbour crew. Among the many important ways she helps the office, Kitty also shares her non-profit expertise and wisdom with the Development Coordinator.
As her one-year volunteer anniversary approaches, Kitty continues to come in with a smile on her face, waiting to see what new tasks she will be helping with today.
"I believe in the mission of The Harbour and I feel that the time I give is freeing up staff for more important activities." -Kitty
No matter what she helps with, tedious tasks or simple shredding, everything Kitty does is greatly appreciated by all she works with.
Thank you, Kitty, for your dedication and support!
