Carmen Korleski and Linda Walker - Woman's Club of Evanston
Thank you, Woman's Club of Evanston, for your dedication to our mission!
May’s Helping Hands Club inductees are the Woman’s Club of Evanston’s Spring Benefit planning committee! The Harbour was grateful to have the Spring Benefit committee host our annual benefit held on April 25, 2015. Two fabulous ladies headed the committee of 30 people through a year-long journey to Cruise The Harbour.
The amazing Linda Walker and Carmen Korleski left their mark on this event, spending over 200 volunteer hours a piece on this one event. Congratulations Linda and Carmen! Thank you for the hundreds of hours you spent planning and preparing for this event; without you at the helm this year's event would not have been the same!
Longtime Evanston residents and Woman's Club members, Linda Walker and Carmen Korleski were appointed as Spring Benefit event co-chairs well over a year ago. After hearing about The Harbour, Carmen and Linda felt a special connection with The Harbour's mission, knowing deep in their hearts this was a mission and organization worth fundraising for.
Starting in May 2014, the two recruited a committee to help plan the biggest fundraising event of the year. Over 365 days later the day of the benefit arrives and everything fell into place. A few bumps and hiccups along the way did not deter these two determined co-chairs from hosting a fabulous even filled with auctions, cocktail hour, games, delectable dinner and dessert, dancing and a casino.
With a sell out crowd of 280 attendees, Cruise The Harbour was the biggest event both organizations have ever hosted. It took a dedicated committee of 30 people and 60 volunteers well over 1,000 hours to plan and execute this event. The result was a raging successful event raising thousands of dollars for charity and enjoying a night that no one will soon forget.
"There were so many highlights over the past year, but the best part about volunteering for something like this is building relationships with the people I work with. Carmen and I have forged a special friendship, and so many WCE members supported us as part of our team. The most exciting time was when we realized we were going to sell out! The second most exciting time was the actual event, which was successful beyond my hopes!
I feel great about what the WCE and The Harbour did together. It was a privilege to serve as co-chair." -Linda Walker, 2015 Cruise The Harbour Event Co-Chair
"I am so happy to be able to support The Harbour as it provides a system of necessary supports for the girls whom it serves. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the benefit for the past year. The enthusiasm of the Spring Benefit Team; the build up of excitement as we approached the event; the many surprises along the way; and then a packed room full of guests ready to support the Harbour's mission and work - this was all so worthwhile.
Thank you to The Harbour for the opportunity!" -Carmen Korleski, 2015 Cruise The Harbour Event Co-Chair
